Colossal Quad-HD Monitor

Gateway, the leading PC maker targeting gamers and graphics artists dribbling over a deluxe 30-inch LCD monitor with spectacular 2,560 by 1,600-pixel resolution. But the PC maker insists the Gateway XHD3000 is not just a appealing face, but a brain like Einstein's: A Silicon Optix Realta HQV ("Hollywood Quality Video") video processing chipset achieves 1 trillion operations per second to improve clarity and feature, reduce noise, and make standard-definition content look like high definition -- and beyond, upscaling HD's finest 1080p video to an even finer 1600p.
The $1,700 flat panel can be directly linked to virtually any PC or consumer electronics video device -- or up to six of them simultaneously, thanks to HDMI, single- and dual-link DVI, VGA, component, S-Video, and composite inputs with HDCP encryption for showing protected HD content. Besides having plenty of room for multiple application windows and Web pages, it offers picture-in-picture PC-and-video viewing.
An affordable universal IR remote control can serve not only the display, but three extra devices such as a Media Center PC, set-top box, and DVD player. In addition to a 1,000:1 contrast ratio and 6-millisecond refresh rates, the XHD3000 features a high-performance DXP powered speaker system with eight low-profile neodymium transducers; distinct audio inputs for each video input with automatic audio switching; and analog and digital audio outputs.
